Face and Neck Lift

Of all the facial plastic surgery procedures Dr. Spencer performs, facelift surgery (rhytidectomy) provides perhaps the most dramatic and impressive improvement. Not surprisingly, it is also the procedure that requires the most time and extensive amount of work. Patients concerned about the aged appearance of their cheeks, jowls, jawline, and neck are the best candidates for rhytidectomy.

The popularity of rhytidectomy and its evolution have resulted in the development of a variety of different incisions and techniques. Dr. Spencer uses an incision that minimizes the movement of any facial hair (especially in the temple region) and with his meticulous closure technique, leaves an undetectable scar. The operation involves four stages: the incision, the elevation of the skin, the repositioning of the facial muscles and fat, and closure. Dr. Spencer often addresses both the cheek/jowl and neck area during the third stage of the procedure to maximize improvement in both areas.

Dr. Spencer’s primary goal is to ensure a natural-looking appearance. This is achieved by camouflaging scars while also maximizing surgical improvement. Because of the ability of facelift surgery to dramatically improve the appearance of the face, it is one of the most satisfying procedures Dr. Spencer performs. However, facelift surgery is not for everyone. The best results are seen with properly selected candidates who enter the surgical process psychologically prepared and with realistic expectations.

A face/neck lift describes a variety of procedures, used alone or collectively, with the goal of recontouring the tissues underneath the chin and near the midline of the neck. Depending on the particular problems the patient hopes to address, the procedure may involve liposuction, direct excision of fat, suturing techniques, and skin removal. The goal is always to reduce excess or sagging tissues in the area beneath the chin in order to produce a tighter, more youthful appearance in the neck.

The type of surgery prescribed will depend on your particular case.

Liposuction is the most effective treatment available for the removal of localized fatty deposits that don’t respond to changes in diet and exercise. The procedure involves one or a series of small incisions, through which a hollow, cylindrical device called a cannula is used. The cannula suctions out fatty tissue, recontouring the affected area. Liposuction can be used on virtually any part of the body and scarring is generally minimal. The procedure has been used for many years with an outstanding safety record and an extremely high satisfaction rating.

We offer many procedures under local anesthesia that would historically be performed under general anesthesia, saving many of the risks, costs, side effects of general anesthesia (such as nausea), and recovery from general anesthesia.

We have created a center for privacy, rejuvenation, serenity and renewal for patients.
